For Immediate Release
At 7pm on April 6, 2012, Jackson’s Garage Bar will host the opening reception for an exhibit of St. Augustine based art group The Anonymous Society of Artists. The reception coincides with St. Augustine’s First Friday Artwalk event and will feature a musical performance by guitarist Kevin “Big Poppa K” St. Onge. Local artists and group founders Jean Drayovitch, Michael Frank Clark and Scott Waters will be displaying works in media ranging from drawings and paintings to digital art. The show will run through the month of April.
With a goal of bringing local artists together to employ new strategies for selling original artwork, The Anonymous Society of Artists formed in May of 2011. The group takes its name from the “Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors, Printmakers, etc.” which in 1874 held an exhibition in Paris that launched the Impressionist movement. Group activities of the Anonymous Society of Artists consist of monthly meetings, weekly outdoor drawing and painting sessions and participation in local art events. Most recently, the group designed and sold the official poster of St. Augustine’s 2nd Annual Celtic Music and Heritage Festival.
