Join us Tomorrow at Barnes Farm

Date: Sunday, April 13, 2014
Time: Noon
Location: Barnes Farm, 8155 Barnes Farm Road, Hastings, FL 32145

As a part of Slow Food First Coast‘s 2014 Tour De Farm event, the Anonymous Society of Artists has been invited to draw and paint out at Barnes Farm in Hastings. Barnes Farm is a family-run 5th generation farm which plants, grows, harvests, and packs their crops 11 months out of the year. Their crops include cabbage, cucumbers, cantaloupes, yellow squash, zucchini, and watermelons. During the Tour De Farm event which runs from noon to 5pm, the Barnes family will be offering guided tours of their facility and selling fresh cut cabbage and cole slaw kits. Also on the farm will be Daryl Perritt of Smokin D’s BBQ, Crosscreek Honey and Old City Salts.

We’ll meet up at the farm at noon and select a scenic vantage point from which to draw and paint. Shade may be in short supply, so we will bring a canopy tent for participating artists. Even though the event will run until 5pm, we are not required to be onsite for that full duration.

To get to Barnes Farm from St. Augustine, head south on State Road 207 toward Palatka. After roughly 14 miles, turn left onto State Road 206, then take the first right onto Barnes Farm Road. As with each of our plein air sessions, regular participants and newcomers are welcome to join us.
