Drawing above St. Augustine
Drawing on Sunday from the top of the parking structure. They need a few more…
Dates: Sunday, January 13 and 20, 2013
Time: 3pm
Location: Frank Butler Park West, 399 Riverside Blvd., Butler Beach, FL
Tomorrow and next Sunday the Anonymous Society of Artists will be heading over to Butler Park West in Butler Beach for our next two plein art-making sessions. Located just 4.5 miles south of St. Augustine Beach off of State Road A1A, this county park will provide us with a variety of interesting vantage points from which to draw or paint including hammock scrub and salt marsh. Not to be mistaken with Butler Park East which faces the Atlantic, Butler Park West sits upon the Intracoastal Waterway and hosts a boat ramp, restrooms and covered picnic benches.
To join us, follow A1A South through St. Augustine Beach toward Cresent Beach. You’ll pass the St. Augustine Beach Publix, the World Famous Oasis Restaurant and Peppertree RV Resort. As you enter Butler Beach, you may see a green “St. Johns County Boat Ramp” sign at Palmetto Road but please continue past it and turn right at the green “St. Johns County Frank B. Butler Park West & Boat Ramp” sign which is at Riverside Boulevard. Riverside Boulevard ends at our park. If you reach the SR-206 Bridge, you’ve gone too far. We’ll meet up in the parking lot at 3pm.
As always, we welcome newcomers at all skill levels. In the event of rain, we’ll get together at the Hyppo Cafe on Tree Boulevard instead.
