The Mission Today and Next Sunday
Dates: Sunday, February 10 and 17, 2013
Time: 3pm
Location: Mission of Nombre de Dios, 27 Ocean Avenue, St. Augustine, FL 32084
At 3pm today, the Anonymous Society of Artists will meet up at the Mission of Nombre de Dios for the first of two outdoor drawing and painting sessions at this location. The Mission grounds offer a variety of attractive scenes for the plein air artist, from the historic Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche, to the serene cove beside the Great Cross, to the shady stand of trees at the south end of the property.
To get to the Mission from the intersection of US1 and King Street, travel north on US1 (North Ponce De Leon Blvd.) for three-quarters of a mile, then turn right onto West Castillo Drive by the Prosperity Bank parking lot. Take West Castillo to its end at the Ripley’s entrance and then turn left onto San Marco Avenue. Travel north on San Marco a little less than half a mile and the Mission will be on your right with a small sign out front. We’ll meet on the foot bridge at 3pm to find the best vantage points from which to work.
The weather forecast for the day looks favorable, but should rain clouds suddenly crop up, we’ll retreat to the Panera Bread for an indoor sketch session. We look forward to seeing you out there!
