Romanza on Aviles Next Weekend

As a part of the Romanza Festivale of the Arts, the Aviles Street Merchant’s Association will be hosting the 2nd Annual Romanza on Aviles paint out this coming weekend, May 10 and 11. If you would like to participate, please contact Georgia Nick Gallery.

Like last year, participating artists will be meeting from 8:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, for a pre-paint coffee at La Herencia at 4 Aviles Street. At that time, the event organizers will give out the name tags, goody bags and do a drawing for painting locations. They will also assign each artist a gallery or store where their finished artwork will be displayed. During the day a merchant will be assigned that the artists can call if they need a short break or any kind of assistance.

The paint out will then begin at 9:00 a.m. and it will end at 4:00 p.m. Because we will only be painting for one day, this is a great paint out for small canvases. The largest pieces last year were 16″ x 20″ and 18″ x 24″. From 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. there will be time for the artists to get their work ready for display. Paintings should be properly framed if they are not a gallery wrap.

From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the public will be able to view the finished pieces. The art will also be on display from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11. There will be a 20% commission charged on all works sold to help cover our Aviles Merchant’s Association cost.
