St. Francis Park for Sunday Morning
Date: Sunday, June 15, 2014
Time: 8:00am
Location: St. Francis Park, corner of St. Francis St. and St. George St., St. Augustine, FL 32084
The Anonymous Society of Artists’ next plein air drawing and painting session will be held on the south end of the city at St. Francis Park. Not to be mistaken with Francis Field, St. Francis Park is a small public park near the Oldest House Museum, right across the street from the St. Francis Inn Bed & Breakfast. Ideal for plein air painting, this park is well shaded from the morning sun with stone benches to allow artists to comfortably render and a range of subjects including a majestic oak tree, fountain, statue, and the Fernandez-Llambias House to the east. Looking out from the park, artists may also choose to capture the scenic view of historic structures along St. Francis and St. George Street.
Please note that because sunrise will be very early at 6:24am, we’ve moved this session’s meeting time up to 8:00am, however, artists are still welcome to arrive at our normal meeting time of 9:00am. We will still be there to keep you company.
To get to St. Francis Park, head south on Avenida Menendez along the bayfront, past Santa Maria Restaurant. The road will eventually turn to the right and become St. Francis Street. Follow St. Francis Street just two blocks and you’ll be there. Street parking is available along St. George Street. View the location of the park on Google Maps.
