On Sunday, June 22nd, the Anonymous Society of Artists has been graciously invited by the St. Augustine Maritime Heritage Foundation to draw and paint at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park for their 2nd Annual MARITIME HERITAGE FAMILY FUN DAY. This event will offer a wide range of family activities including model boat building and racing, youth sailboat rigging, maritime and nature demonstrations, fun exhibits, hands-on activities, games, prizes and more. Park admission will be free from 11am-3pm for St. Johns County residents with ID, so this is set to be a great opportunity for exposure for our artists.
Although the event will officially begin at 11am, we are being allowed in to the park early at 10am so we may set up our easels and begin working before the crowds arrive. We are also being allowed to bring small print racks or containers of prints and original artwork to sell. Those who do sell their artwork are asked to donate a portion of their proceeds to the Foundation. A “donate” button is available right on their website.
For those unfamiliar with the St. Augustine Maritime Heritage Foundation, it is actively organizing and overseeing the construction of a sixteenth century replica boat, called a “chalupa,” and boatyard on the Fountain of Youth grounds. As such, we encourage those artists participating on Sunday to make the chalupa, the boatyard, or the volunteer shipbuilders the subject of their artwork. Following the event, please share a photo or scan of your finished artwork with us, so we can share it with the Foundation.
Once you RSVP via email with us, we will send you additional information including parking instructions and a pre-event meetup.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us. See you there!
