Tribute to Sculpture Art
Three Anonymous Artists took advantage of perfect weather to render the sculptures in the changing light at Lakeside Park Sculpture Garden. To further define the mood of the garden, consider words by Saint Augustine journalist Peter Guinta. “In a world where ‘art’ often feels like a dandified and derivative commodity, St. Augustine sculptor Thomas Glover stood apart as an American original, a man who every day found himself grinding and sanding and chipping huge slabs of marble to create a vast array of creatures who appear to have emerged alive from the rock.” This outdoor session was a tribute to Thomas Glover White who created many of the sculptures in the garden. Perhaps in our own way we collectively grind and chip away daily to create our own personal niche for art. For additional art opportunities with music and storytelling scheduled for Sundays please review the St. Augustine Beach Sculpture Garden website.
